Basic Roast Beef

Serves 8


3 lb boneless beef rump roast
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 cups hot water
4 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
1 tablespoon dried oregano
2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper


  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  2. In a Dutch oven, brown roast on all sides in oil over medium-high heat; drain.
  3. Combine remaining ingredients in a mixing bowl. Once mixed, pour over roast.
  4. Cover and bake in the oven for 3 hours, or until meat is tender and fully cooked.
  5. Remove roast to a warm serving platter and let stand 10 minutes before slicing.
