Dutch Apple Pie

Serves 8


3/4 cup sugar
2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
pinch salt
1 egg, beaten
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup sour cream
2 cups Gala apples, chopped and peeled
1 9 inches pie shell, unbaked
For Streusel Topping:
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
2 Tbsp. cold butter


  1. In a large bowl, combine 3/4 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour and salt. Stir in the egg, vanilla and sour cream until smooth. Add apples; mix well. Pour into piecrust. Bake at 375 degrees F for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 325 degrees F and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
  2. To make streusel topping, combine 1/3 cup flour and 1/3 cup brown sugar in a small bowl. Cut in butter until crumbly; sprinkle topping over pie. Bake 20 minutes longer or until filling is bubbly and topping is browned.
  3. Cool on a wire rack. Serve warm or chilled. Store in the refrigerator.
